Just 12 percent of Americans approve of how Congress is doing its job, matching the all-time record low, according to a new poll Friday.

The overwhelming dissatisfaction with Congress last hit its rock bottom of 12 percent approval in October 2008, the CBS News/New York Times poll shows.

And members better watch out for their jobs come 2012. Only six percent of voters say members deserve re-election — the lowest percentage ever in the past 20 years, dropping even below the nine percent who thought that before the 2010 midterm elections.

Almost six in 10 voters told the pollsters they didn’t even think their own representative should be re-elected. Typically, Americans poll more positively when asked about their own member, but CBS wrote that the percentage wanting to vote their representative out nears the highest it has ever surveyed.

The disapproval of Congress cuts across party lines, but more Americans are unhappy with Republicans in Congress than Democrats. Among those polled, 72 percent say they are displeased with Republicans’ performance, while 63 percent say Democrats are doing a bad job.

The CBS News/New York Times poll was conducted Sept. 10-15 and surveyed 1,452 adults. The margin of error is plus or minus three percentage points.

Snopes!

I heard years
ago that Snopes was  a left-wing operation and found it odd that
there was absolutely nothing negative to be found about Obama when he was
running for President.  I should have known that George Sorros was
      behind them too.

Most of us have
gone to Snopes for verify information that we were not sure about.
Now, come to find out, Snopes is not the paragon of truth we thought it
was.  I just eliminated them as a source of honesty and
integrity.  Please read and pass on to your email
      friends
.

Snopes is
heavily financed by George Soros, a huge financial supporter of
      Obama!

In our Search
for the truth department, we find what I have suspected on many
      occasions
.  I
went to Snopes to check this out and they said it was false and there were
no such dockets so I Googled the Supreme Court, typed in Obama-Kagan, and
guess what?  Yep you got it.
Snopes
      lied.
 Everyone
      of those dockets are there.
 So Here is what
      I wrote Snopes:

Referencing the
article about Elena Kagan and Barak Obama dockets: The information you
have posted stating that there were no such cases as claimed and the
examples you gave are blatantly false.  I went directly to the
Supreme Courts website, typed in Obama Kagan and immediately came up with
all of the dockets that the article made reference to.. I have long
suspected that you really slant things but this revelation is really
shocking. You exist behind a veil of half truths and distorted
facts.  Hoping you will be honest and forthcoming in the future is
      probably expecting too much.
*************

That being
said, if you really didn’t know THIS then your investigative reporting is
      a sham;

Kagan was
representing Obama in all the petitions to prove his citizenship. Now she
may help rule on them. Folks, this is really ugly.
 Chicago
Politics; and the beat goes on and on and
      on…

Once
again the US Senate sold us out!  Well, someone figured out
      why
Obama

nominated Elana
      Kagan
 for
the Supreme Court…. Pull up the Supreme Courts website, go to the docket
      and search for
 Obama.

Kagan
was the Solicitor General for all the suits against him filed with the
Supreme Court to show proof of natural born citizenship. He owed her big
time. All of the requests were denied of course.
They were never heard! It just keeps getting deeper and deeper, doesn’t
it? The American people mean nothing any longer. It all comes down to
payback time for those who compromised themselves to elect someone that
really has no true right to even be
      there.

Here
are some websites of the Supreme Court Docket: When you look up some of
      these hearings and guess what??
 Elana
      Kagan
 is
      the attorney representing
Obama!!!

raise it at will. And if anyone  protests, they will just say, “oh,that’s
not really a tax, it’s a user fee”! Think this is no big deal? Go back and
look at the transactions you made from last year’s banking statements. Then
add the total of all those transactions and deduct 1%. Still think it’s no
big deal???

Charley Reese’s final column for the Orlando Sentinel…..

Charley Reese is retiring. His last column is this one. I know  many will  miss this southern gentleman..
He had a great run and we are all  better off for it.
Farewell, Mr. Reese, and thank you.
Charley  Reese has been a journalist for 49 years.

Be sure to read the Tax List at the end.

This is about as clear and easy to understand as it can be – read it!!  The article below is completely neutral, not anti republican or democrat Charlie Reese, a retired reporter for the Orlando Sentinel, has hit the nail directly on the head, defining clearly who it is that in the final analysis must assume responsibility for the judgments made that impact each one of us every day.  It’s a short but good read.  Worth the time.  Worth remembering!

 545 vs. 300,000,000

545  PEOPLE –By Charlie Reese

Politicians are the only people in the world who create problems and then campaign against them..

Have you ever wondered, if both the Democrats and the Republicans are against deficits, WHY do we have deficits?

Have you ever wondered, if all the politicians are against inflation and high taxes,WHY do we have inflation and high taxes?

You and I don’t propose a federal budget. The President does.

You and I don’t have the Constitutional authority to vote on appropriations. The House of Representatives does.

You and I don’t write the tax code, Congress does.

You and I don’t set fiscal policy, Congress does.

You and I don’t control monetary policy, the Federal Reserve Bank does

One hundred senators, 435 congressmen, one President, and nine Supreme Court justices equates to 545 human beings out of the 300 million are directly, legally, morally, and individually responsible for the domestic problems that plague this country.

I excluded the members of the Federal Reserve Board because that problem was created by the Congress. In 1913, Congress delegated its Constitutional duty to provide a sound currency to a federally chartered, but private, central bank.

I excluded all the special interests and lobbyists for a sound reason They have no legal authority. They have no ability to coerce a senator, a congressman, or a President to do one cotton-picking thing. I don’t care if they offer a politician $1 million dollars in cash. The politician has the power to accept or reject it. No matter what the lobbyist promises, it is the legislator’s responsibility to determine how he votes.

Those 545 human beings spend much of their energy convincing you that what they did is not their fault. They cooperate in this common con regardless of party.

What separates a politician from a normal human being is an excessive amount of gall.  No normal human being would have the gall of a Speaker, who stood up and criticized the President for creating  deficits……  The President can only propose a budget. He cannot force the Congress to accept it.

The Constitution, which is the supreme law of the land, gives sole responsibility to the House of Representatives for originating and approving appropriations and taxes. Who is the speaker of the House? Nancy Pelosi. She is the leader of the majority party She and fellow House members, not the President, can approve any budget they want.  If the President vetoes it, they can pass it over his veto if they agree to.

It seems inconceivable to me that a nation of 300 million cannot replace 545 people who stand convicted — by present facts — of incompetence and irresponsibility. I can’t think of a single domestic problem that is not traceable directly to those 545 people When you fully grasp the plain truth that 545 people exercise the power of the federal  government, then it must follow that what exists is what they want to exist.

If the tax code is unfair, it’s because they want it unfair..

If the budget is in the red, it’s because they want it in the red ..

If the Army & Marines are in  Iraq  and Afghanistan it’s because they want them in Iraq and Afghanistan…

If they do not receive social security but are on an elite retirement plan not available to the people, it’s because they want it that way.

There are no insoluble government problems.

Do not let these 545 people shift the blame to bureaucrats, whom they hire and whose jobs they can abolish; to lobbyists, whose gifts and advice they can reject; to regulators, to whom they give the power to regulate and from whom they can take this power. Above all, do not let them con you into the belief that there exists disembodied mystical forces like “the economy,” “inflation,” or “politics” that prevent them from doing what they take an oath to do.

Those 545 people, and they  alone, are responsible.

They, and they alone, have the power..

They, and they alone, should be held accountable by the people who are their bosses.

Provided the voters have the gumption to manage their own employees…

We should vote all of  them out of office and clean up their mess!

Charlie Reese is a former columnist of the Orlando  Sentinel  Newspaper.

What you do with this article now that you have read it……… Is up to you. This might be funny if it weren’t so  true.

The government official overseeing day-to-day U.S. air traffic operations resigned on Thursday after additional disclosures of air controllers sleeping on the job.

Hank Krakowski was director of the Federal Aviation Administration’s Air Traffic Organization, which is responsible for orchestrating more than 9 million departures and arrivals at more than 400 airports annually.

His resignation was accepted by FAA Administrator Randy Babbitt, who said in a statement he had launched a full-scale review of how some 15,000 controllers do their job.

“Over the last few weeks, we have seen examples of unprofessional conduct on the part of a few individuals that have rightly caused the traveling public to question our ability to ensure their safety,” Mr. Babbitt said in a statement. “This conduct must stop immediately.”

The FAA is investigating at least four controllers who fell asleep at work, including one who was out of radio contact while a medical flight was trying land in Nevada.

Radio silence also greeted two jetliners preparing to land in Washington, D.C., in another incident last month. Additionally, a controller at a Tennessee airport in February was found sleeping under a blanket.

On Monday, a controller at Boeing Field/King County International Airport in Seattle was suspended for falling asleep during his morning shift, the FAA said.

The controversy has alarmed safety advocates and has become fodder for late night comics. It also comes at a delicate moment for the FAA, which has faced criticism from Congress and others over the years for inefficiency and safety lapses.

Lawmakers are about to negotiate details of sweeping legislation to boost FAA operations and modernize the air traffic system, talks that under the best circumstances would require proponents to find more support than usual.

Unionized controllers have also been a target of Republicans in Congress, who now control the U.S. House of Representatives.

House Transportation Committee Chairman John Mica plans a closed-door meeting with FAA leaders to discuss recent near-miss incidents involving jetliners and the sleeping controller uproar.

The controller issue focuses on overnight staffing at airport towers where certain smaller centers post one person to handle a handful of flights. The FAA said on Wednesday that it would add controllers at 27 towers for late night shifts.

The National Transportation Safety Board (NTSB) in recent months has stepped up its review of controller staffing, performance and fatigue issues. This includes the near miss of a passenger jet and two military aircraft in January over the Atlantic Ocean off New York.

Suspected controller errors in 2010 hit 1,887 from 1,233 the previous year, according to the FAA. More than half were considered relatively minor, but reports in the most severe category rose to 43 from 37, FAA figures show.

In a 5-4 ruling, the Supreme Court overturns a jury verdict and lower-court rulings awarding $14 million to John Thompson, who had sued then-New Orleans Dist. Atty. Harry Connick Sr. because prosecutors hid a blood test that would have proved his innocence in a murder case. The court majority says the mistakes in the case did not amount to ‘deliberate indifference.’

A bitterly divided Supreme Court tossed out a jury verdict Tuesday won by a New Orleans man who spent 14 years on Death Row and came within weeks of execution because prosecutors had hidden a blood test and other evidence that would have proven his innocence.

The 5-4 decision delivered by Justice Clarence Thomas shielded the New Orleans District Attorney’s office from being held liable for the mistakes of its prosecutors. The evidence of their misconduct did not prove “deliberate indifference” on the part of then-District Attorney Harry Connick Sr., Thomas said.

Justice Ruth Bader Ginsburg emphasized her disapproval by reading her dissent in the courtroom, saying the court was shielding a city and its prosecutors from “flagrant” misconduct that nearly cost an innocent man his life.

John Thompson spent 14 years isolated on Death Row before the truth came to light,” she said. He was innocent of the crimes that sent him to prison and prosecutors had “dishonored” their obligation to present the true facts to the jury, she said.

In the past, the high court has absolved trial prosecutors from any and all liability for the cases they bring to court. The key issue in the case of Connick vs. John Thompson was whether the district attorney could be held liable for a pattern of wrongdoing in his office and for his failure to see to it that his prosecutors followed the law.

In 1999, when all his appeals had failed on his convictions for the murder of a hotel executive, Thompson was due to be put to death. But a private investigator hired by his lawyer found a blood test in the police lab which showed the man wanted for a related car jacking had a type “B” blood, while Thompson’s was type “O.”

Thompson had been charged and convicted of an attempted car jacking near the SuperDome as a prelude to charging him with the unsolved murder of a hotel executive.

The newly revealed blood test spared Thompson’s life, and a judge ordered a new trial on the murder charges that had sent him to Death Row. His new defense lawyers found other evidence that had been hidden, iincluding eye-witnesses reports from the murder scene. Bystanders reported seeing a black man who was six-feet tall with close-cropped hair running away holding a gun. Thompson was 5’8″ tall and had a bushy “Afro” at the time.

With the new eye-witness reports and other evidence that pointed to another man as the killer, Thompson was quickly acquitted of all the charges in the second trial. He won $14 million in damages in a civil suit against the district attorney.

In rejecting the judgment, Justice Thomas described the case as a “single incident” where mistakes were made. He said Thompson did not prove a pattern of similar violations that would justify holding the city’s government liable for the wrongdoing. Chief Justice John G. Roberts Jr. and Justices Antonin Scalia, Anthony M. Kennedy and Samuel A. Alito Jr. joined to form the majority.

But Thompson’s lawyers showed that at least four prosecutors knew of the blood test that was hidden. They also showed evidence of other similar cases in New Orleans where key evidence was concealed from defense lawyers.

Agent Brian A. Terry, 40, was killed on Dec. 14 near Rio Rico, Ariz., according to a statement released by U.S. Customs and Border Protection officials. (FNC)

The U.S. Border Patrol is under fire for allegedly ordering its elite, SWAT-style units to use non-lethal bean bag ammunition before responding with deadly force – even against suspects armed with high-powered semi-automatic and automatic weapons like AK-47s.

The controversy over the agency’s “bean bag” policy began in the days following the Dec. 14 killing of U.S. Border Patrol agent Brian Terry and has escalated recently as more information is uncovered in the investigation of the fatal shooting.

“When the suspected aliens did not drop their weapons, two Border Patrol agents deployed ‘less than lethal’ beanbags at the suspected aliens,” according to a FBI search warrant request filed in the U.S. District Court in Tuscon on Dec. 29. “At this time, at least one of the suspected aliens fired at the Border Patbrol agents. Two Border Patrol agents returned fire, one with his long gun and one with his pistol. Border Patrol agent Brian Terry was shot with one bullet and died shortly after.”

The warrant appears to support claims made by Terry’s brother, Kent, and former U.S. Rep. Tom Tancredo that Terry’s team — part of the U.S. Border Patrol Tactical Unit, also known as BORTAC — was “under standing orders to always use bean-bag rounds first before using live ammunition.” Tancredo wrote about the issue in a Dec. 18 op-ed article.

Although it’s not clear how many, if any, border patrol units were ordered to carry the non-lethal beanbag ammunition, one expert insists the order has been applied to at least all BORTAC teams in Arizona – if not the entire Border Patrol.

“That order stemmed from the incident on the El Paso-Juarez border in which an agent discharged a sidearm to defend himself from rock throwers,” said Andy Ramirez, founder of the advocacy group Friends of the Border Patrol. Ramirez was referring to a June shooting that left a 15-year-old Mexican boy dead.

Mexico was outraged at the incident, so Victor Manjarrez Jr., then chief of Border Patrol’s Tuscon sector, “acquiesced by ordering agents to use non-lethal loads,” Ramirez said.

U.S. Customs and Border Protection denied that units were ordered to use non-lethal bean bag ammunition. “There was no order given to any CBP law enforcement personel – now or in the past – that indicates the use of less lethal devices before using deadly force,” a spokesman, Agent Mark Qualia, told FoxNews.com.

But T.J. Bonner, president of the National Border Patrol Council, the border agents’ union, said there are “conflicting statements” as to whether the agents were under such orders. “Because of the ongoing nature of the investigation, the people who know best aren’t talking.”

Ramirez said regardless of whether the men were ordered to use the bean bags, the simple fact that a Border Patrol tactical team was armed with bean bag ammunition at all was “asinine.”

“BORTAC is like a SWAT unit; they’re our most highly trained, specialized unit of agents. These guys go in when we have a serious problem. It would be like sending a SWAT team into a bust with bean bags. … They were outgunned by far.”

Asked why a BORTAC team would carry guns armed with bean bags, Qualia said, “Why do law enforcement personnel carry Taser guns? If you’re in a confrontational situation where you do not need to use lethal force.”

If the officers did need to use lethal force, Qualia added, they had the freedom to make that decision and the equipment to execute it. “Every law enforcement personnel within CBP has a sidearm which is fully loaded, along with two additional magazines.”

He also confirmed that the “long gun” referred to the report shows at least one of the agents was armed with a “rifle fully automatic weapon.”

Bonner stressed he “didn’t know all the facts of the case,” but “given the intelligence they had, a number of agents I spoke with question the wisdom of having less than lethal weapons in that situation.”

Qualia said the CBP is fully cooperating with the FBI in their continued investigation. “As soon as something’s been published, we’ll be able to follow up

This article is rather sad but somethings just need to be said.

‘And I shall never more, ever, dance with my father again.’ Of Christina Taylor Green, born 9/11/2001, murdered January 8, 2011.

by Dr. Jeffrey Lant

Author’s note: This is an article of pain, remembrance, great grief, lost expectations, and, always, of a vibrant 9 year-old girl named Christina Taylor Green, randomly murdered in Tucson, Arizona.

This article cries out for a musical note, to set its mood and put you in the proper place to consider this little girl, her abbreviated life, and violent end.

For this note, I have selected the balcony scene of Sergei Prokofiev’s gripping ballet “Romeo and Juliet.” You will find it by searching any major search engine. If possible, watch Rudolph Nureyev as Romeo and Dame Margot Fonteyn as Juliet.  As you watch this ballet and listen to the music which inevitably captures your soul, please remember that neither Romeo nor Juliet knew their fate during this scene… we know the tragedy they will face… but they are teen-agers enraptured with each other, not knowing or even thinking of their fate, only of each other. And right up until her end, Christina had no inkling of what was to come. Only we know…

And so, enveloped by Prokofiev, the curtain opens upon a young girl, full to bursting with energy, imagination, and the shear joy of life, each day an adventure, to be lived and savored.  She was, in so many ways, a typical American girl… but in her high energy, grit, and determination this was a very special little girl, indeed.

Born September 11, 2001

It started for Christina upon a day of tragic endings for so many…  September 11, 2001. Far from shrinking from this date, Christina embraced it. She was proud to be an American girl and made it a point, once she understood the tragedy and the importance of the date, to see her birth upon such a day as one sign of renewal, something joyful on a day without joy. She was, as young girls can be, an insistent optimist, remembering the grief of the day… determined to leaven it with whatever joy she could bring… and that was always considerable.

She loved to dance.

She danced, with gusto and joy, for she was always a child of exuberance with an inclination to color, vibrancy, and the thrill of dressing up in mommy’s old clothes. People enjoyed looking at her, and applauding; she enjoyed being looked at, and the applause
One day, egging each other on, Christina and her mother, Roxanna Green, 45, dressed “to the nines” and displayed their high animal spirits by dancing throughout the house. She could always laugh, but always enjoyed more her natural skill at making others laugh, feel good, delighting to be in her company. There they always felt they had a  friend… and so they did for the girl was nothing if not amiable. She liked people… and they liked her.

Another day, musing upon her eventual wedding, as little girls will, she told her mother how much she would enjoy the first dance she would take that day, with her father, congenial John Green, scout for the Los Angeles Dodgers. She could imagine, she could visualize, and she was planning, especially the last time her father would dance with her solely as his daughter, not the lucky groom’s adored wife.

She was a leader with the common touch, the gift of empathy, the joy that comes of getting to know people… and understanding them.

Christina seemed to have been born with the great gifts of leadership. She could set a goal… and work hard to reach it. Her coach on the Pirates Little League Team remembers how she kept after him for a week until she successfully negotiated the terms of a race in the outfield between the players and the coach. Kids run forward, coach runs backwards, winner gets ice cream.

The kids, lead by, exhorted by Christina, were hugely victorious. It was just the kind of thing she liked.

Last hours of Christina’s brief life.

It was because of her leadership skills that she was with her mother’s friend Susan Hileman at U.S. Representative Gabrielle Giffords’ latest “Congress on your corner” meet-and-greet event, at a local supermarket.

Christina, with her gift of the gab, high energy, and, always, the ability to look people in the eye and impress them with her sincerity, honesty, and the deep integrity she made her own, looked to a career in communications, maybe even politics.

After all, Christina was already a popular member of the Student Council at her elementary school; had learned the value and necessity for charities and was a willing worker. Somehow this attractive slender girl with the brownish-blond hair, brown eyes, and a gentle smile also found time to sing in the choir of St. Odila Roman Catholic Church. She was liked there, too.
Her mother agreed with her friend that Christina should go to this event; there was every possibility Congresswomen Giffords would speak to her, inspiring Christina with her own belief in the importance of government and the never-ending need for people with a broader view and the energy to persevere. Christina was just the kind of student Gabrielle Giffords wanted to meet, which made this event just that much more exciting. It would be great fun, and useful, too.
Jared Lee Loughner was also on his way to the meet-and-greet. He had a different purpose… But this is Christina’s story… and it must be fully told.

We can imagine the last moments of Christina’s short life: how excited she was to meet the Congresswoman. How kind she was, how interested, eyes locked on Christina as they talked. It was all it should have been… until the gunman and assassin, burdened down by ammunition and a lifetime of inconsequence and hatred, spewed 31 rounds, killing 6, wounding 12. Among the dead, there on that blood-stained floor of infamy lay Christina, no longer a young girl of promise… but a sacrifice to the national romance with guns and the national failure to regulate with earnestness and care.

All Tucson, all Arizona, all America grieved… too late.

Americans did on this occasion what we always do: we poured out our raw emotions, engaging the nation, including the President himself. The questions were the same as always — why? how could it happen? Every word we had heard before… and would hear often again. They are a part of the American Way of Tragic Death.

Meanwhile, the little body, so slight, so easily borne was readied for her journey into eternity, a needless victim occasioned by well-meaning adults who had so egregiously failed her.
And so on January 13, 2011 Christina Green, she of the bright eyes and high aspirations, found the peace of God… but left the rest of us dazed, disheartened, and dithering about What To Do. Surely by now we know.

You’re a 19 year old kid.

You’re critically wounded and dying in the jungle somewhere in the Central Highlands of Viet Nam.

It’s November 11, 1967.
LZ (landing zone) X-ray.

Your unit is outnumbered 8-1 and the enemy fire is so intense from 100 yards away, that  your CO (commanding officer) has ordered the Med Evac helicopters to stop coming in.

You’re lying there, listening to the enemy machine guns and you know you’re not getting out.

Your family is half way around the world, 12,000 miles away, and you’ll never see them again.

As the world starts to fade in and out, you know this is the day.

Then – over the machine gun noise – you faintly hear that sound of a helicopter.

You look up to see a Huey coming in. But.. It doesn’t seem real because no Med Evac markings are on it.

Captain Ed Freeman is coming in for you.

He’s not Med Evac so it’s not his job, but he heard the radio call and decided he’s flying his Huey down into the machine gun fire anyway.

Even after the Med Evacs were ordered not to come. He’s coming anyway.

And he drops it in and sits there in the machine gun fire, as they load 3 of you at a time on board.

Then he  flies you up and out through the gunfire to the doctors and nurses and safety.

And, he kept coming back!! 13 more times!!  Until all  the wounded were out. No one knew until the mission was over that the Captain had been hit 4 times in the legs and left arm.

He took 29 of you and your buddies out that day. Some would not have made it without the Captain and his Huey.

Medal  of Honor Recipient, Captain Ed Freeman, United States Air Force, died last Wednesday at the age of 70, in Boise, Idaho

May God Bless and Rest His Soul.

I bet you didn’t hear about this hero’s passing,  but we’ve sure seen a whole bunch  about Lindsay Lohan, Tiger Woods and the bickering of congress over Health Reform.

Medal of Honor Winner Captain Ed Freeman

Shame on the American media !!!

Now… YOU pass this along to YOUR mailing list. Honor this real American.

Please.
